Instant cocoa drink powder
Share
German: Kakaogetränkepulver (Instant-Kakao) Also known as: Instant-Kakao, Kakaopulver gezuckert, Kakao-Instantpulver
Sweetened, quick-dissolving powder to be mixed with milk, which besides cocoa usually contains a high proportion of sugar.
Instant cocoa drink powder is a mixture of cocoa powder, sugar and often further ingredients such as emulsifiers, flavourings, salt or vitamins. Agglomeration, i.e. binding fine particles into loose granules, lets it dissolve well even in cold milk.
Sugar is often the main ingredient and not infrequently makes up well over half, so the cocoa share is correspondingly lower. The list of ingredients shows the order of quantities. Products with less than 25% cocoa powder may not be called drinking chocolate powder or sweetened cocoa.
