Earl Grey

Also known as: Earl-Grey-Tee

Black tea flavoured with oil of bergamot, a citrus fruit.

Earl Grey is not a growing region but a flavouring: black tea is scented with bergamot oil, which gives it its floral, citrusy aroma. The name refers to Charles Grey, 2nd Earl Grey, British prime minister in the 1830s; exactly how the tea got its name is not reliably documented.

Variants also exist with green tea or added flowers.
