Dried coffee extract that dissolves instantly in hot water.
For instant coffee, roasted coffee is first brewed in the usual way. The concentrated extract is then spray-dried or freeze-dried; freeze-dried powder is coarser and considered gentler on aroma.
Mixes such as "3in1" also contain sugar and creamer, cappuccino powders milk components and flavourings.
