Also known as: Aeropress, Aero Press
A handy plastic brewing device in which coffee steeps briefly and is then pressed by hand through a paper filter with a plunger.
The device was developed in the USA in 2005; the name is a product name but is commonly used for this brewing style. It consists of a cylinder, a plunger and a filter cap with a small round filter. Coffee and water usually steep for one to two minutes, then the drink is pressed into the cup with gentle pressure.
The short contact time and the filter produce a clean, full-bodied coffee with little sediment. Grind size, steeping time and dose can be varied widely, right up to the inverted method.
