Pre-portioned coffee for specific machines: capsules made of aluminium, plastic or compostable material, pods made of filter paper.
Capsules fit only one machine system each, for example Nespresso, Dolce Gusto or Tassimo (T-Discs). Third-party brands sell "compatible" capsules for these systems.
Pods are flat filter-paper pouches of ground coffee, known above all from Senseo. Water flows through them without high pressure, so they do not make espresso in the strict sense.
