Ready-mixed cocoa drink based on milk, usually sold chilled or UHT-treated, which is legally generally a milk mixed product.
Ready-to-drink cocoa is mixed in the dairy from milk, cocoa powder, sugar and often a stabiliser such as carrageenan so that the cocoa does not settle. It is pasteurised or UHT-treated and filled into bottles, cartons or cups.
Under food law, such a drink is usually a milk mixed product consisting mainly of milk. Names such as cocoa drink, chocolate milk or cocoa milk are common. The sugar content varies considerably from product to product and can be found in the nutrition table.
