Bean-to-cup coffee machine
Share
German: Kaffeevollautomat Also known as: Vollautomat, Kaffeeautomat, Bean-to-Cup
A coffee machine that grinds, doses, tamps and brews beans at the push of a button and often froths milk too.
A bean-to-cup machine contains a grinder, a brewing unit and a pump that forces hot water under pressure through the compacted coffee. After brewing, the spent grounds are ejected automatically. Many machines also make cappuccino or latte macchiato with a milk system.
Convenience is high, but there are usually fewer adjustment options than on a portafilter machine. Fresh beans, a suitable grind size and regular cleaning, descaling and rinsing of the milk system are crucial for good flavour.
