Second flush

German: Second Flush

The year's second picking, mainly for Darjeeling – stronger and rounder than the first flush.

After the spring picking (first flush), the tea bushes sprout again in early summer. Teas from this second harvest are darker and fuller; Darjeeling second flushes are often said to have a muscatel-like note.

The terms come from India and are used mainly for Darjeeling and Assam.
