East Frisian blend

German: Ostfriesische Mischung Also known as: Ostfriesentee, Ostfriesische Teemischung

Very strong black tea blend with a high share of Assam, traditionally drunk in East Frisia with rock sugar and cream.

East Frisian tea is a blend mostly of Assam tea, often supplemented with other black teas. It is dark, malty and strong.

Traditionally a piece of rock sugar (Kluntje) goes into the cup first, then the hot tea and finally a spoonful of cream that rises as a little cloud; it is not stirred.
