Jasmine tea
Share
German: Jasmintee Also known as: Jasmin-Tee, Jasmine Tea, Jasmine Pearls, Mo Li Hua Cha
Usually a green tea scented with fresh jasmine blossoms, giving it an intensely floral aroma.
For classic jasmine tea, tea, usually green tea from China, is mixed with freshly opened jasmine blossoms, which release their scent at night. The tea absorbs the aroma and the blossoms are then usually removed. For high-quality grades the process is repeated several times. Fujian province is well known for it.
Cheaper jasmine teas, by contrast, are flavoured with added aromas, which can be seen on the ingredient list. Jasmine tea is also available as rolled "jasmine pearls". Like green tea, it is not brewed with boiling water.
