Growler
Share
Also known as: Bierkanne
A refillable bottle or jug, usually of glass or stainless steel, for taking fresh draught beer to go.
A growler is a refillable container for fresh draught beer, often made of glass or stainless steel with a sealable lid. Common sizes are roughly one to two litres. Breweries and shops fill it at the tap.
Unlike beer in gas-tight bottles or cans, the beer keeps only for a limited time because carbonation and freshness fade quickly once opened. In Germany, food law requirements apply to filling and handing over.
